NEW DELHI: In a major policy response to the ongoing nationwide outcry over examination irregularities, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has officially announced the establishment of fast-track courts specifically designed to handle cases related to paper leaks. PM Modi emphasized that the welfare and future of the country’s youth remain the government’s absolute top priority, issuing a stern warning that anyone attempting to jeopardize students’ futures will face stringent and swift punishment.

PM Modi Swift Justice for Exam Irregularities

The announcement was made on Thursday, July 23, 2026, marking Prime Minister Modi’s most direct intervention in the massive controversy surrounding the NEET-UG examination leaks. In a detailed post on the social media platform X, Modi stated, “We have decided to set up fast-track courts to ensure swift and stringent punishment for those involved in paper leaks”. He further noted that strict directives have been issued to the concerned authorities and departments to ensure all necessary steps are taken without delay.

This newly announced legal framework aims to bypass the often-lengthy traditional judicial process, ensuring that the culprits orchestrating these massive educational frauds are brought to justice rapidly. The Prime Minister described this as a continuation of a series of vital steps the government is taking to comprehensively safeguard the interests of students across the nation.

The Opposition Responds

Despite the government’s assurance regarding the PM Modi‘s announcement, the political opposition remains unpacified. The Indian National Congress swiftly responded to the Prime Minister’s announcement, accusing the administration of merely reacting to immense public pressure rather than addressing the root of the systemic failure.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, launched a scathing attack on X, alleging that the PM Modi had overseen the “total capture and destruction” of India’s education system. Gandhi reiterated the opposition’s uncompromising, three-point demand: the immediate sacking of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a formal apology to the students from the government, and strict action against the police personnel who recently assaulted student protesters.
